I recently had a particularly unusual problem that needed to be solved.

I needed to install RedHat Enterprise Linux on hundreds of pre-existing Linux machines out in the field, without the use of physical media (CDROM, DVD, USB etc), without the use of virtual media (no out of band / lights-out-management interface), no PXE netboot server, and only one spare partition available to install into.
